MAYA Design, Inc.

Late in the 2005-2006 school year, MAYA Design, Inc., which is a company in the South Side of Pittsburgh, contacted Hampton's TSA Chapter.

A group of Hampton's TSA Chapter took a bus downtown to MAYA's offices and were blown away; the design, colors, and shapes of everything at the office made us know we had nothing to fear.

After meeting with MAYA Design, Inc. a few weeks later, we knew our goal: to recreate MAYA's intranet site. An intranet is a private network that is contained within an enterprise, that uses Internet protocols. Our MAYA Contacts were Terry Pronko, Ranjani Shankar, and Seung Chan Lim.

When our Chapter returned from our meeting with MAYA Design all of us had great ideas about what we should do.

In later meetings, we broke into teams: design and entertainment. We decided including an entertainment section would be a great addition to the site. The design team came up with a new layout for the site, and in time all the information was added and the project was complete.

Despite two other school groups working with MAYA to complete a similar task, Hampton's TSA club was the only group to succeed in their mission. Hampton received high accolades for this job and hopes to continue helping MAYA Design.

HAEE

Background:

HAEE (Hampton Alliance [for] Educational Excellence) contacted the TSA chapter. HAEE receives funding through donations and corporate sponsors. In turn, this funding is distributed throughout the school district in order to provide opportunities for students. These include but are not limited to: CLO shows, field trips, school club trips, and curriculum funding.

The Task:

HAEE makes presentations to would-be sponsors, and uses printed and digital media during their presentations. This material is becoming increasingly dated, and is nearing seven years old. TSA is to aid HAEE in the revamping of this material in order to further persuade sponsors to continue or begin funding.

Timeline:

Contact was established in early December of 2006. This project is not finished as of the creation of this website, but is nearing finality.

MAYA Design, Inc. Revisited

At the beginning of the 2007 school year, all students who worked with MAYA Design the previous year were anxious to see if we would be permitted to work with another company to help them, as they did with MAYA Design the previous year.

Fortunately for Hampton's TSA, MAYA Design, Inc. contacted Hampton again to further the intranet site Hampton helped create for MAYA the previous year.

This project is very similar to the MAYA Project of the previous year, except with a twist; the plan is to reorganize all the information of the site and make it as workable as possible by adding new features and ways of editing the site.

As of now, the layout has been redone, an advanced search feature added, and a wiki-style editing system has been implemented.

Much work is ahead of us, and we are all ready and willing to face the work!
